Prime Minister Dahal advertised the government's efforts in convert Lumbini into a focal point for global peace and spiritual tourism
He drew attention to various efforts for the attraction of international investment for the Greater Lumbini Development Project, conceptualizing Lumbini as the internal sacred site of Buddhists around the world. Expanding on the symbol of peace and unity represented by Buddha, he said Nepal was very proud to be associated with his birth.
"There is a need for collaboration and coordination to make mountains pollution-free. The government has adopted a policy of holding dialogue in national and international forums for the same", he said.
" Snow melting, increasing of risk of glacial lakes bursting and increasing of air pollution along with temperature rise have been making negative impacts on the human life, civilization, development, lifestyle and health of the people living at low-lying areas of mountains", he added.
Prime Minister Dahal shared, "Nepal has been advocating for climate justice in national and international arenas keeping activities to protect mountainous region and reduce impacts of climate change there in high priority."
"Sagarmatha stands as a unique emblem of Nepal's identity and beauty. This also serves as a hub for biological diversities and it carries historic and cultural identities of the mountain people and the community," He stated.
He outlined government efforts at infrastructural development and the preservation of its cultural heritage in Lumbini, with emphasis on collaboration with international donors. He also added that propagation of Buddhist philosophy in institutions like Lumbini Buddhist University is necessary to firmly link Lumbini with the concept of being a center for Buddhist learning. Lastly, he shared the decision to organize a Third World Buddhist Summit in Nepal by taking clues from past successful efforts organized in pursuit of fostering global dialogue on Buddhism.
