More importantly, Universal Everest Day is celebrated all over the world so that one may understand the 'never give up' kind of determination shown by these climbers.

On 29 May, Aayo Gurkhali hosted Stafford with a UK premiere for the touching documentary "Beyond the Summit," recalling incredible stories of perseverance tied to Phurba Tenjing Sherpa, holder of the Guinness World Record who has just climbed Mt. Everest for the 16th time, to mark the 71st anniversary of Everest Day in Stafford, United Kingdom.

Almost 50 participants attended the program for the celebration of rich Nepali culture with popular traditions like Silam-Sakma and sharing meals on lapate leaves. Inspiring stories of renowned Everest summitters were presented by Rojita Buddhacharya and Rakesh Sunuwar.

Buddharacharya is an all-rounder in astronomy, acting, and journalism, and she shared her journey pertaining to the societal challenges faced by her en route to climbing Everest, laying emphasis particularly on the role of the Sherpas during expedition ascending Everest.

Sunuwar, a former British Gurkha who now runs Doko Homes, wanted to conquer Everest. He did so in 2017, after being inspired by those pioneers like Min Bahadur Sherchan. He told me the story of the expedition that intended to put serving Gurkhas on Everest, something which was delayed by the earthquake of 2015 but was realized in 2017.

It also featured a remarkable climber, Kaji Sherpa, who spoke about the memory of his friend and one of the notable figures of '96 Everest expedition, Lopsang Jangbu. "The event remembers those heroes of Everest, the Sherpas, who have helped every expedition since 1922 and seem to be forgotten," according to organizer Sanjog Karki.

The carnival is going to underline the legacy of Mount Everest, profuse in the consummate spirit of mountaineers, and rich cultural heritage of Nepal.
