Lumbini was visited by the Chinese Minister of Cultural Affairs
He was on a mission for China with a number of people as his entourage. In response to the welcome speech, Dr. Lharkyal Lama who is the Vice President of Lumbini Development Trustalso welcomed the Chinese friend. To rate Lumbini and Chinese sites to comprehensively develop and bring both sides into discussion, Minister Ruifeng expressed interests towards the future cooperation between Lumbini and Chinese sites for Buddha’s birthplace.
Minister Ruifeng and his team toured various important places of attraction such as Mayadevi Temple, Ashok Pillar, Pushkarani Pond and Shanti Deep and the team was fortunate to be briefed on these (historical) treasures. On this matter, the delegation discussed with Dr. Lama about initiating direct flights commencing from China to operational Gautam Buddha International Airport.
He emphasized on the need of having fixed flights; he said that if this happens it would bring many folds of tourists in Lumbini and at the same time give disseminations of Buddha’s teaching all around the globe.
There was a memorandum that was presented from a delegation of people with Thakur Kumar Shrestha the President of Rupandehi Chamber of Commerce, there was a request from the Chinese Minister to put into operation the Gautam Buddha International Airport.
